New York Knicks
An intriguing scenario would be Turner teaming up in the frontcourt and forming a formidable duo with Julius Randle. Not only would Turner’s presence open up the floor and allow the Knicks offense to flow more freely but he could also serve as the defensive anchor and protect the rim. The Knicks could consider giving up Mitchell Robinson and even Taj Gibson.
To sweeten the deal they could include one of their young guards in either Quentin Grimes or Miles McBride who both appear to have bright futures if they play in the right system that utilizes their strengths. The Knicks are currently 12th in the East and are fighting for their playoff lives but could make a push if they could acquire Turner.
Cam Reddish was acquired a few weeks ago and it’s very evident that general manager Scott Perry will do everything in his power to improve this roster. Robinson is a good defender and currently ranks 8th in the NBA in blocked shots but would be an upgrade considering what the Knicks need now. Turner is a more durable player and can space the floor which would create more opportunities to score for Randle and RJ Barrett.
Turner would automatically improve the Knicks, not just for this season but for the foreseeable future if he decides to stay long-term. Head coach Tom Thibodeau should be able to draw up some amazing and divisive defensive schemes with Turner entrenched in the lineup.
