Should the New York Knicks go all-in on Donovan Mitchell?
In a vacuum, it’s not that difficult of a decision. For a team that has been starving for a superstar, there’s no question that they should be all-in on landing a said superstar. If the Knicks could theoretically land the superstar, you land the superstar.
Especially considering that, at least at the moment, the Knicks don’t have a superstar on the roster. Donovan Mitchell is close enough to superstar status that his presence on the Knicks would likely vault him into that tier.
And New York has a deep enough of a supporting cast that Mitchell wouldn’t be on a bare team should the Knicks pursue him. At the least, they’ll have Jalen Brunson next to him in the backcourt and Julius Randle and/or Mitchell Robinson in the frontcourt.
When a superstar is available, you get the superstar and worry about the rest later.
