Honorable mentions

In no particular order, here are some honorable mentions for our ranking of the best players under the age of 23 in the NBA heading into the 2022-23 season.

Tyler Herro, Miami Heat – Tyler Herro exploded this past season and won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award. He’s projected to be a starter this year for the Miami Heat and the hope is that he can take another step forward.

Jordan Poole, Golden State Warriors – Jordan Poole is another player that blew up this past season but consistency will be the key for him moving forward. He struggled during stints last season, especially in the playoffs.

Gary Trent Jr., Toronto Raptors – Gary Trent Jr. often gets overlooked in Toronto but he’s only of the bright young stars. He averaged 18 points per game this past season.

Cade Cunningham, Detroit Pistons – Cade Cunningham struggled to open the season but really came along during the second half of his rookie campaign. The hope is that he can build that off heading into this season.

Evan Mobley, Cleveland Cavaliers – In some ways, Evan Mobley is the next evolution from Deandre Ayton as a big. There’s not much that Mobley can’t do on the floor and considering he’s a 7-footer, it’s absolutely absurd.
