What trouble lies ahead for the Golden State Warriors?

Looking at their roster, it’s easy to see why to feel great about the Golden State Warriors’ chances of winning a championship this season. Though, that’s not a certainty after this season. That’s because the team has some financial issues that could arise.

Of the team’s core, Curry is the only one signed long-term. Klay Thompson’s contract ends after the 2023-24 season and Draymond Green’s expires after this season. James Wiseman can be a restricted free agent after the 2023-24 season and Jordan Poole will be a restricted free agent after this season. Andre Wiggins is an unrestricted free agent after this season too.

It’s quite a puzzle that the Warriors will have to figure out, starting after this season. And, put frankly, the Warriors are not going to be able to retain everyone. It seems as if the Warriors may have to decide between retaining their original core of Curry, Klay, and Draymond, or pivoting to a slightly different one.

After this season, it gets difficult for the Warriors. So it would make sense for the Warriors to make the most out of this season, which is the only certainty for their immediate future.
