The Utah Jazz don’t know how to tank
During the offseason, when the Utah Jazz traded Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, the expectation was that this was a team that was going to lean heavily into tank mode. And, to start the season, their roster (full of young players) would reflect that.
However, through the first two games of the season, the Jazz has been one of the best teams in the league. Well, let’s not get carried away. The Jazz hasn’t been one of the best teams in the league but they are 2-0 and have beaten the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves in the past week.
Quite frankly, the Jazz may be the worst team in the history of tanking. Utah still isn’t likely to win many games this season but I can’t help but wonder if these two wins (over quality opponents) are going to haunt this team come lottery time.
