The Washington Wizards are 4-5 and are quickly proving that this roster isn’t equipped to compete in the Eastern Conference. That wouldn’t be a problem except for the fact that this team is in win-now mode. They paid Bradley Beal the big money that he wanted and acquired Kristaps Porzingis at last year’s NBA Trade Deadline.

At least so far, the Wizards don’t look like a team that is going to play much of a factor in the East. They may be good enough to crash the playoff party as a play-in tournament team but it’s hard to see this team blossoming into a contender. And that should be what this franchise should be striving for.

Bradley Beal is great but the more that this team continues to stack losses, the more questions regarding the direction of this franchise are going to raise. The Wizards may not be in a position where they can win with this current core.

There’s a good chance that the Wizards would be better off with a roster shakeup than an addition at the deadline.
