Milwaukee Bucks x-factor No. 1: The bench
The starters are set, so it’s up to the bench to hold down the minutes while the starters are catching their breath.
Bobby Portis is making a strong case for 6th Man of the Year, competing with Immanuel Quickley and Malcolm Brogdon. Portis is averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds on the team with the best record in the entire NBA. Playing a lot of crunch time minutes alongside Brook Lopez, who could steal the Defensive Player of the Year award, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, the potential MVP candidate, he brought the energy the team has needed all season.
Jevon Carter is the spot starter who brings defense and intensity to an already strong defensive team. With the Bucks holding a 108.9 defensive rating, Jevon Carter gives defensive versatility and gives breaks for all-star Jrue Holiday.
An underrated signing by the Bucks was the veteran’s veteran Joe Ingles. Signing a one-year deal for $6.5 million, he left Utah and headed East. You can never have enough ball movers and playmakers and Ingles embodies both elements.
