A star player on the wing/added insurance for Zion Williamson

Potential targets: OG Anunoby, Pascal Siakam, Jeremy Grant, Harrison Barnes

Heading into this offseason, I think one of the priorities of the front office will be to find an additional difference-maker for the team on a large scale that will, at the same time, offer some insurance for Zion Williamson. And I believe that a fringe star talent is what the Pelicans should be looking for heading into the offseason.

There are a few pipe dream targets that the Pelicans can have, but I also believe that they also have to be somewhat realistic with their targets. On the surface, if a player such as OG Anunoby or Pascal Siakam becomes available, they should absolutely do whatever it takes to land them. At the same time, perhaps they could aim lower for a player such as Harrison Barnes, who may not be at the same level as OG and Siakam but has been tremendously important to the Sacramento Kings’ success this season.

And if the Pelicans want to follow their path toward relevance, you need to find those otherwise overlooked players. Because of his role with the Kings this season, he could end up being one of the most sought-after veteran free agents this summer. And he should be on the Pelicans’ radar.

The Pelicans need to find some insurance in the frontcourt and if that leads them to another star, that’s only a plus.
