Offseason demand No. 2: If you can’t find a legit supporting piece next to Bradley Beal, trade Bradley Beal

One big point of conversation this offseason for the Washington Wizards has to revolve around Bradley Beal and his future with the team. From all indications, the priority is to keep him on the roster. He’s an all-star talent and he hasn’t pressured the team for a trade yet. And unless he does, there’s no reason to trade him just for the sake of trading him. However, at the same time, it’s downright malpractice to let him waste away his prime for a team that is not in a position to win.

If the Wizards get to a point this offseason where they come to the realization that they won’t be able to surround Beal with the necessary supporting cast to make a move up the Eastern Conference standings next season, then they should trade him. It’s that simple.

It makes no sense for the Wizards to keep Beal on the roster when they know they won’t be that competitive in the East. And considering the haul that they’d be able to get in exchange for Beal, it could end up working out really well for the Wizards even if they do trade him.

This is something the Wizards should know right off the bat during the offseason too.
