3. Ausar Thompson, Overtime Elite
Ausar Thompson is projected to go somewhere in the top 10 but I don’t think anyone has a clear understanding of where exactly he’s going to be drafted. He’s another one of these high-ceiling prospects, however. And much like his brother, Amen, Ausar has star potential and is only beginning to scratch the surface of the player that he can be in the future. While the potential is there for Thompson, he’ll need to prove that he’s worth the gamble right now.
Playing for Overtime Elite, Thompson was quite impressive. He flashed an offensive game that perhaps his brother may not have at the moment. And that potential is likely what could have him as a top 5 pick in this year’s draft. That said, I’m not sure that he’s a “better” prospect than Amen at the moment.
Thompson is a great athlete and has great size at 6-foot-7. There are certain areas of his game that he needs to polish but there’s no question that he’s one of the best point guard prospects in this year’s draft class.
Depending on where teams project him to play and in what role will ultimately decide where he gets drafted.
