Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers are another team that would make a lot of sense for Dillon Brooks. Coming off a first-round playoff loss at the hands of the New York Knicks, it became quite apparent that the Cavs were one wing defender short. That’s going to be a priority for the Cavs this offseason and perhaps Brooks could be somewhat of an answer for the team at the position.
Of course, the big question is whether the Cavs would feel comfortable injecting Brooks into such a young locker room. They could certainly use some veteran toughness, but I’m not sure if Brooks, considering everything he went through this past season, is the perfect player for that role.
Theoretically, it would make sense. Brooks fills a lot of the needs that Cleveland has on paper. He could be the team’s primary wing defender while offering some off-the-ball offense in spurts. I believe that for the Cavs, this is a team that has to take into account fit. And for all the good that Brooks does, I would be a bit concerned on that front.
Maybe the Cavs are willing to look beyond that this offseason?
