Roughly a week away from the NBA Draft Lottery, at least for now, all the focus for the San Antonio Spurs has to be centered around manifesting the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Looking at the team’s roster, whether they land the No. 1 pick or not, the Spurs will still be looking for different avenues to acquire talent and to do so quickly. Taking a flier via trade on a player like Jonathan Isaac could be one way in accomplishing that.

And at least from Isaac’s perspective, the Spurs would be a great landing spot for him. San Antonio has been known for being one of the best developmental franchises in the league and that’s the exact landing spot that would probably make the most sense for Isaac. Does Isaac need to find a place where he could get consistent playing time? Absolutely. At the same time, Isaac needs to develop. He hasn’t been able to have that luxury through his young career just yet, mostly due to injuries.

If the price is low enough, there is really not much that is standing in the way of the Spurs taking a gamble on Isaac.
