10. Oklahoma City Thunder
Pre-lottery odds of landing the No. 1 overall pick: 1.7%
Another one of the NBA’s young up-and-coming teams is the Oklahoma City Thunder. Heading into the NBA Draft Lottery, there is a very outside chance that they end up winning the No. 1 overall pick. However, I’d also argue on their behalf on how they don’t really need Victor Wembanyama. This is a team that is heading in the right direction and may just need another year of experience to truly play an impact in the Western Conference.
The Thunder qualified for the NBA Play-In Tournament and nearly won their way to an 8th seed. In the end, it didn’t pan out for the Thunder but with the expected return of Chet Holmgren this season, the hope is that OKC is able to take another step forward and qualify as one of the top 6 seeds next year.
While the addition of Wembanyama would be nothing short of magical for this team, the Thunder is not in a position where they can demand that they deserve the No. 1 overall pick. They’ve had some really good draft luck over the last few seasons.
