4. Houston Rockets – Amen Thompson, Overtime Elite
On NBA Draft night, Amen Thompson is likely going to enter the league as a point guard. But on opening night, there’s a chance that he’s not viewed as primarily a point guard. That’s because he has such a unique set of skills that will give him the opportunity to impact the game on several different levels. Could he be a playmaking point guard? Absolutely. But he’s also further ahead of most prospects on the defensive end.
At 6-foot-7 and with his athleticism, Thompson could be viewed as one of the most versatile players in this draft (aside from Victor Wembanyama). He could play as a lead guard, he could play off-guard too. And if he continues to develop a consistent 3-point shot, there’s no reason to believe why he can’t play even some small forward.
There’s plenty to like about Thompson heading into the NBA Draft process. Over the next few weeks, his job will include solidifying his spot as the No. 4 overall prospect in this year’s draft class.
