Letting general manager Bob Myers leave
This is certainly something that has to be a two-way street but if this decision is ultimately up to the Golden State Warriors, there’s no way they could let general manager Bob Myers walk. He’s been an instrumental part of the team’s success in the last 10 years and there’s no question that there would be at least some drop-off if he were to leave the organization.
I’m sure the Warriors would fill his position with some other great internal hire (perhaps Michael Dunleavy Jr.) but there’s a reason why Myers is considered to be one of the best general managers in the league right now. And losing him could have huge implications for the rest of the offseason for the Warriors.
At least for now, the belief is that the Warriors and Myers are trending toward moving in separate directions. If there’s any way that the Warriors can change that course of action over the course of the next few weeks, there’s no doubt that they should be doing everything they can to get an agreement done.
Losing Myers could have a bigger impact on the team than many realize.
