Orlando Magic
In this hypothetical deal with the Orlando Magic, the San Antonio Spurs would be able to jump to the 11th overall pick. This is Orlando’s second lottery pick and could perhaps be an asset that the Magic are willing to move heading into the NBA Draft. In exchange for the 11th overall pick, the Spurs would send the Magic a top-10 protected first-round pick in 2024, their second-round pick (33rd overall) in this year’s NBA Draft, and Malaki Branham (who was the 20th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
This move would make even more sense if the Magic are able to get their target with the sixth overall pick. With a solid core, the Magic don’t necessarily need to add two lottery picks in this draft. If they could flip one for additional or future assets, that’s probably a move that makes more sense for the team in the long run.
And if the Spurs’ target is still on the board at No. 11, this could be the one spot that feels like the most realistic. I think there’s a fairly good chance that the Magic at least explore the possibility of moving their second lottery pick.
