The Pelicans trade Brandon Ingram to Charlotte Hornets
In this particular deal, the New Orleans Pelicans would send a strong package to the Charlotte Hornets that is centered around Brandon Ingram. Officially, the Pelicans could send Ingram, Dyson Daniels, the 14th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, and a 2025 first-round pick to the Hornets. In exchange, the Pelicans would get the second overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft (Scoot Henderson) and Gordon Hayward (to make the money work).
The Hornets would then have a trio of Daniels, LaMelo Ball, and Ingram. They could also add another young prospect with the 14th pick. If nothing else, the Hornets would be competitive again in the Eastern Conference and perhaps even a playoff team.
Assuming that the Pelicans are sold on Scoot as a future superstar, this is a deal that would work for both sides. I don’t believe that the Hornets want to blow up their entire build again. If they had a choice, I would imagine that they would want to make a big move for a star. And, in a way, Ingram is the player that the Hornets are betting Brandon Miller to be.
Would this deal be the best chance of appeasing both sides? It might be close.
