Kyrie Irving
I’m not going to sit here and act like I’m Kyrie Irving’s biggest fan. I’m not. In fact, I’d say I’m far from that. However, I’m also not going to sit here and act like he’s not an otherworldly talent that wouldn’t help the Miami Heat. And if Kyrie is on the roster this season, perhaps instead of Tyler Herro and Kyle Lowry, the Heat maybe wins an NBA Championship. At the very least, they would’ve put up a better fight against the Denver Nuggets.
What the Heat needs most is what Kyrie does best – he’s a generational offensive talent that can drop 30 falling out of bed. He also plays a position that the Heat have serious questions about. The Heat reportedly targeted Kyrie at the NBA Trade Deadline and that is something they could explore once again this offseason. Of course, the problem with that is the Heat doesn’t have cap space to sign him and would need the Dallas Mavericks (of all teams) to play ball and agree to a sign and trade.
That could prove to be increasingly difficult and, perhaps most importantly, unlikely. Nevertheless, it’s something to keep tabs on heading into free agency.
