Heading into the offseason, the Dallas Mavericks are desperately trying to figure out how the drastically improve the supporting cast around Luka Doncic. Kyrie Irving, who was acquired at last year’s NBA Trade Deadline. was part of those efforts. And they’ll still need to re-sign him this offseason, but the Mavs could be ambitious and look to make another big splash by targeting Paul George via trade.

PG would be a natural fit next to Kyrie and Luka. There’s no question that a team like Dallas would be interested. The concerns revolve around whether the Mavs would be able to muster enough trade assets together to make a competitive offer. And without that guarantee, you can’t truly consider the Mavs a realistic landing spot just yet.

However, we’ve seen teams pull off absolute heists in recent years that you can’t entirely count out the possibility. If the Mavs could crack the code of compiling a competitive offer that doesn’t include the Luka, Dallas should be willing to pull the trigger.

Luka deserves this type of move. And if the Mavs could pull it off, it would completely change the dynamic in the Western Conference hierarchy.
