Christian Wood (unrestricted)
As one of the more polarizing free agents, Christian Wood is still on the open market. But considering he’s unlikely to go for a big number, there should be plenty of interest across the board for Wood. Even more so if he ends up signing for the veteran’s minimum. If that’s the market for Wood right now, nearly every team in the league should be inquiring about his interest in joining their team.
On the other hand, if that is indeed the case for Wood, you’d have to imagine that he’s going to play the long game and wait out a few unresolved issues around the league – perhaps waiting to see where the Damian Lillard domino falls. At this point in the free-agency process, there’s a very good chance that Wood ends up signing for a contender on a one-year prove-it deal.
For as much as Wood is criticized for his lack of awareness on the defensive end of the floor, he’s still a truly difference-making player on the offensive end. Wood is coming off a season in which he averaged 17 points and seven rebounds on 38 percent shooting from 3-point range. In the right system, there’s a very real possibility that Wood can blossom again next season.
