Christian Wood signs with Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers have quietly had a good offseason. I predict that they’re not done yet. With still a few talented free agents still on the open market, the Lakers will sign another one of these low-risk, high-reward free agents that, for one reason or another, have not settled on a home just yet. The one specific free agent still on the open market that makes a ton of sense for the Lakers is Christian Wood.
It’s been reported that the Lakers are still looking for a stretch-big, and Wood would make a lot of sense. For all his limitations on the defensive end of the floor, Wood is a talented offensive player. That element of his game has never been questioned. Even if a “down” season for Wood, he managed to average 17 points and seven rebounds on 38 percent shooting from 3-point range.
Wood would be an intriguing addition to the Lakers and would help solidify the team’s frontcourt depth. I don’t think anyone would anticipate him being a starter for the team but if the dynamic between him and Anthony Davis does work out, it would make a pretty deadly offensive duo for the Lakers.
