11. New York Knicks
Key offseason move: Signed Donte DiVincenzo
Making a surprising step forward last season, the New York Knicks will be hoping to catapult last year’s success toward taking another mover up the Eastern Conference standings. However, that could be easier said than done considering how top-heavy the conference is. And at least so far this offseason, the Knicks haven’t been that aggressive. The Knicks have been smart and diligent with their offseason moves with the biggest of additions being Done DiVincenzo.
Of note, the team also decided to trade Obi Toppin to the Indiana Pacers to thin out the logjam in the frontcourt. If the Knicks’ young players continue to take steps forward though, there’s no question that New York will once again play a big factor in how the top of the East standings take shape heading into the postseason.
The Knicks are likely still one big move away from being considered a true title contender in the East. However, that doesn’t mean they can’t possibly make noise if a few of their players play above their expected ceilings.
