2. Donovan Mitchell, Cleveland Cavaliers

Donovan Mitchell hasn’t even begun his second season with the Cleveland Cavaliers but he’s absolutely a player that could end up demanding a trade sooner rather than later. Mitchell isn’t expected to sign a contract extension with the Cavs anytime soon and with one year remaining on his contract after this season (before he can opt-out to test free agency), he’s a player who could begin to get antsy about getting to one of his desired preferences.

Especially if the Cavs end up being somewhat disappointing this season. This is certainly a big year for Cleveland and if they have any hopes of keeping Mitchell around, they’re likely going to have to take a big step forward in the Eastern Conference. But that’s far from a guarantee.

It’s also important to remember that Cleveland was not one of Mitchell’s original preferred landing spots when he was traded by the Utah Jazz last offseason. If Mitchell knows he’s going to leave in free agency after next season and the Cavs don’t get off to a good start this year, there’s a chance that Mitchell could end up demanding a trade in the next 6-12 months.
