3. Memphis Grizzlies
Christian Wood to the Memphis Grizzlies could be the most interesting fit in the entire NBA. Just like with Brooklyn, sticking Wood on a resolute defensive team like Memphis is an exciting proposition.
In last year’s playoffs against the Lakers, Memphis clearly struggled in their frontcourt. Not just defensively against Anthony Davis and the like, but offensively as well. A lot of this was due to injuries, but even without these big-man absences, the Grizz don’t have enough scoring firepower upfront.
Adding a versatile scorer like Wood who can shoot from the outside would give Memphis infinitely more options during playoff time. Whether he comes off the bench some nights or replaces Steven Adams in the starting lineup, Wood can add a lot to the Grizzlies.
Luckily for Memphis, they have about $17 million before they hit the luxury tax, which should be precisely enough to snag Wood. They also have their non-tax mid-level exception which could possibly lure Christian in.
It doesn’t matter how they get him, but if they can do it, this would make the Grizzlies even scarier than they are.
