Boston Celtics
With the moves that they made during the offseason, particularly trading Marcus Smart, there is reason to believe that the Boston Celtics may need to add to their backcourt at some point this season. Losing Smart will hurt the Celtics. Perhaps the boost that Kristaps Porzingis gives the team will overwhelm the loss of Smart, but there’s at least a small chance it doesn’t.
In a vacuum, Jrue Holiday is the perfect player that could theoretically fill the void that was left when the Celtics traded Smart. They’re similar players, as they’re both tenacious on both ends of the floor, and you can actually make the argument that Holiday is a better playmaker and offensive player.
The Celtics would have to move some things around but if they could get to a place where they add Holiday, Boston would be in a very good spot even after the move by the Milwaukee Bucks to acquire Damian Lillard.
The NBA has certainly shifted in part due to the Lillard trade, but the fireworks of the offseason may not be completed just yet.
