The move for Buddy Hield
Ever since it was announced that contract extension talks between Buddy Hield and the Indiana Pacers had fallen through, the Miami Heat should’ve been on alert. Even more so after they missed on Damian Lillard. Hield is not the ideal fit that he may be for some other teams, but he does fill a much-need role when it comes to shooting for Miami. He’d also be able to offer a consistent threat on the offensive end of the floor that the team likely lost with Gabe Vincent and Max Strus.
In this deal, the Heat would also be able to add a veteran point guard who is familiar with Jimmy Butler (dating back to their stint with the Philadelphia 76ers). The expiring contract of Kyle Lowry, one future first-round pick, and a second-round pick. Depending on what the market would be for Hield, I’m not sure if that would be enough. But this is the type of offer that should already be at the footsteps of the Pacers’ front office doors.
Hield is one of the most underrated offensive players in the NBA and it’s easy to forget that he’s coming off a season in which he averaged 17 points and five rebounds per game on 43 percent shooting from 3-point range.
He’d absolutely be a boost to the Heat’s offense.
