Karl-Anthony Towns is only 27 years old but the narrative around him has gotten away from him a bit. He’s entered a place where he’s considered to have one of the worst contracts in the NBA and you can now make the argument that he’s now one of the most undervalued star players in the league. Part of that is looking at the success that both Jimmy Butler and Andrew Wiggins have found since leaving KAT, but a bigger part of that is the lack of success he’s had during his time in Minnesota.

In a vacuum, KAT is one of the most talented big men in the game. There’s nothing he can’t do on the floor. This is the point in his career where he needs to find himself as a star player and flip the narrative. He’s on a talented team and if he can be a consistent supporting star to Anthony Edwards, perhaps he can accomplish that.

If KAT’s biggest knock is that he isn’t a consistent No. 1 option, that’s fine. Not every star player is built to be a No. 1 option. Just look at how Wiggins has rebounded after a few inconsistent seasons to start his career. KAT needs to have that type of rejuvenation starting this year.
