Victor Wembanyama is already one of the best players in the league

Heading into the start of the season, the hype around Victor Wembanyama was real. He was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and the belief around him was that he was going to completely change the San Antonio Spurs franchise. And that’s exactly what has transpired in such a short time for the Spurs. There’s an argument to be made that Wemby is already one of the best players in the league.

Through nine games played, Wemby is averaging 20 points, nine rebounds, and nearly three blocks per game on 46 percent shooting from the field. The Spurs are only 3-6 but they’re clearly on the rise. It may not completely happen this season but what Wemby is doing is something the fan base should be extremely happy about.

If there’s one concern about Wemby, it’s his health. At 7-foot-4, you can’t help but be concerned about a player that size. But if he can stay clear of the injury bug, there’s a very real chance he ends up being one of the best players to ever play in the Association.
