LA Clippers
Russell Westbrook
On the surface, because of his declined play recently, Russell Westbrook’s reputation around the league has taken a hit. After disappointing stints with the Washington Wizards and then the Los Angeles Lakers, there were concerns that Russ had played out his welcome in the NBA. However, during his time with the Clippers, we’ve seen not just how special of a player he is, but also how special of a person and leader he is.
That was most recently portrayed after Russ decided to go out of his way to accept a bench role in an attempt to do his part in figuring out their struggles since the addition of James Harden. The Clippers should be grateful they have Russ on their roster.
Los Angeles Lakers
Austin Reaves
I don’t believe there are many who understand just how important Austin Reaves’ development has been for the Los Angeles Lakers. Reaves is a big reason why the Lakers made a surprising run to the Western Conference Finals and one of the reasons they have a fighting chance to do the same this year.
For the moment, he’s the Lakers’ only shot at having a third star next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. He’s also given Los Angeles an additional premier asset that they could use via trade in the future. Reaves was somewhat of a lifeline given to the Lakers last season.
