NBA Trade Rumors: We explore three teams that should be considered desperate enough to meet the "outrageous" asking price for Kyle Kuzma.

When the Washington Wizards decided to re-sign Kyle Kuzma to a huge contract extension during the offseason, the hope was that the endgame would be cashing in on the asset at some point in the future. Perhaps as soon as the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline.

However, there could be one problem with the idea of the Wizards moving on from Kuzma at the deadline. And it's the fact that the asking price for Kuzma could be considered a bit "outrageous." According to a recent report, the Wizards are asking for multiple first-round picks in exchange for Kuzma. It's easy to see how that could be considered problematic.

Nevertheless, all it takes is for one team willing to meet that price point. As we inch closer and closer to the trade deadline, we'll explore three teams that should be willing to pay an "outrageous" price to land Kuzma.

Sacramento Kings

During the offseason, the Sacramento Kings were believed to be a logical landing spot for Kyle Kuzma in free agency. And there was even some reporting that seemed to indicate it was going to happen. In the end, it didn't as Kuzma would go on to re-sign with the Washington Wizards. However, heading into the trade deadline, if Kuzma is truly on the trade block, you can't help but wonder if the Kings could reignite some of that previous interest in the dynamic forward.

If the Kings are moving forward with their aggressive approach heading into the trade deadline, perhaps Kuzma is a player that they could target. Especially if things end up falling through on the Pascal Siakam front.

The Kings could meet the asking price for the Washington Wizards for Kuzma and could add intrigue to an offer by including one of their young prospects such as Davion Mitchell. If Kuzma is shopped before the trade deadline, it would be shocking if the Kings didn't at least have a conversation about the possibility.

Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers may currently have their eyes focused on Pascal Siakam, especially after missing out on OG Anunoby, but I can't help but wonder if their attention could shift toward a player like Kyle Kuzma if he does find his way to the trade block ahead of the deadline. The path toward landing a player like Siakam will prove to be not only risky but costly. I'd have to imagine that the cost for Kuzma would be discounted compared to Siakam and considering the former is under contract for the foreseeable future, it's also less of a risk from that standpoint.

The word on the street is that the Pacers are still looking for an upgrade at the power forward position even after selecting Jarace Walker in the 2023 NBA Draft. Kuzma could be a fit as a player who can stretch the floor and take significant pressure off of Tyrese Haliburton on the offensive end.

If the Washington Wizards are looking for cap relief and draft compensation in exchange for Kuzma, that's certainly a pricepoint that the Pacers could reach with ease. If the Pacers are serious about making a splash move before the deadline and do end up missing out on Siakam, Kuzma has to be considered an option.

Dallas Mavericks

When Kyrie Irving is healthy, there's an argument to be made that they may be a piece away from being a true contender in the Western Conference. Even though the Mavs have still been relatively competitive since Kyrie has been out, not only is this team going to need to be healthy to compete in the postseason but they're also likely going to have to add another difference-making piece ahead of the trade deadline.

Perhaps that piece could be Kyle Kuzma. It may not seem like a smart move to go all-in for a polarizing piece such as Kuzma but when you consider how many times the Mavs have whiffed in the past on difference-making players to surround Luka Doncic with, you can't help but wonder if Kuzma could be the perfect target.

Assuming there isn't going to be this robust market for Kuzma, that's where a team like the Mavs can sneak in and make a low-market offer and perhaps come away with a deal. A trio of Kyrie, Luka, and Kuzma could make some noise in the postseason. Is it championship good? Who knows. But it's certainly a talented bunch that Luka might be able to drag all the way to the top.
