Allen Iverson A Grizzlie

A lot to report on in the NBA lately, including potentially the greatest Hall of Fame class being inducted this week, but that will be covered later in the week.

The big story in the NBA today was the potential signing of Allen Iverson to the Memphis Grizzlies. Iverson broke this news to the greater public by way all mainstream stories are seemingly broke now-a-days…Twitter.

This is an interesting signing and for all the Grizzlies may or may not lack in team chemistry, they make up for it with overall team talent.

Let’s look at what the Grizzlies are bringing to the table:

In the backcourt they’re going to have O.J. Mayo, Mike Conley and the aforementioned Iverson. Could a backcourt of Iverson and Mayo work together? I’m not sure, but it is an interesting one.

In their frontcourt, Memphis rookie Hasheem Thabeet, second year Marc Gasol and enigmatic veteran Zach Randolph.

Now Randolph has been dismissed by many teams, but you can’t argue with the fact that he can put up 20 points and 10 rebounds in his sleep.

Now you add super athletic swingman Rudy Gay to that mix and you have a pretty dynamic roster. Gay also may be poised to take a leap this season, based off his performance with Team USA in their workouts.

Either way, the Memphis Grizzlies this upcoming season are going to be an interesting case of if you take several good pieces and add them together, will a whole product come out?
