Greg Monroe Quietly Improving

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Early in the season, fans were amazed with John Wall’s speed and overall ability to lead a team. We were impressed with Blake Griffin and his flat out dominance, even to today. Landry Fields of the Knicks and his steady play. We’ve seen comparisons of Gary Payton (John Wall), Karl Malone (Blake Griffin) and John Havlicek (Landry Fields). Currently, were waiting for Evan Turner to get it, Paul George and Semih Edren have both recieved playing time lately and Ed Davis and DeMarcus Cousins are in and out. Besides Gary Neal, Greg Monroe is steadily improving. Earlier this month, I [...]

New Jersey Escapes Melo Drama

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

With Nets’ majority owner Mikhail Prokhorov coming out this past week saying ” We are no longer pursuing Carmelo Anthony”, I actually think they made the right choice as well.  For one, I thought New Jersey was CRAZY for basically agreeing to take Richard Hamilton and Chauncey Billups for Carmelo Anthony. However, I do think there is a bigger plan for New Jersey on the horizon, it starts with the pieces they currently have.

Is Carmelo Anthony Worth It?

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Similar to LeBron James earlier this summer, Carmelo Anthony has become the topic NO basketball fan wants to discuss at this point. Let’s see what happened: Carmelo wants the 65 million dollar extension AND wants to play in New York New York doesn’t have the pieces Denver would like New Jersey had the pieces, the 3rd team and the deal done Carmelo doesn’t want to go to New Jersey Deal Dies At this point, one has to wonder….is Carmelo even worth 65 million?

Tim Duncan vs Kobe Bryant: The Debate To Me

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Last year, we had the “Who’s the best player of the last decade” debate. The results were confusing to me. Allen Iverson got a lot of votes, but didn’t win. Shaq got dozens of tallies because he was considered the most dominant player during the Lakers’ three-peat,but from 2007-2009, Shaq really didn’t do anything to make you think he’s the man he once was.  This left Tim Duncan and Kobe Bryant. My thinking: Tim Duncan should win easily, 4 titles,  impacted the Spurs and was the man from day one. Who won? Kobe Bryant. One year later, I have a [...]

The Newest Top 5 NBA Player

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

This offseason, I did my 2010-2011 NBA top 50. I feel confident when I look back that I had the players in the right area in terms of the way their season went. However, for the next season I have three things I have to fix. The first thing is, Dirk Nowitzki wasn’t on my list, he wasn’t let off on purpose, merely accidental. The second is, I’m adding rookies and second year players. Last season, I didn’t want to add too many younger players on the list because I didn’t want the egg on my face if they slumped. [...]

Does Oklahoma City Need Another Big?

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

With Los Angeles  looking to be on the decline ( or dormant, whichever you choose), Dallas now missing their 3rd best player and San Antonio taking a step back, the Oklahoma City Thunder sit in a perfect position.  However, the Thunder’s biggest problem is the frontcourt.  Well, how do we fix that?  Let’s start with what seems to be the prevailing question…the value of the movable pieces.

NCAA Draft Review: Version 2

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Top 5 Draft prospects  (excluding Euros) Terrance Jones, Jared Sullinger, Perry Jones, Brandon Knight- Harrison Barnes * I’m excluding Kyrie Irving because he has not played since his injury Terrance Jones is a monster for me. I believe he’s the #1 prospect just because there isn’t anyone else in college who can do what he does. I’d argue he’s Kentucky’s best scorer, rebounder and passer. The first comparison to many is Lamar Odom, but the most interesting one I’ve seen is former Wildcat Jamal Mashburn. I believe Jones compares more to Mashburn because one thing Jones hasn’t been comfortable shooting [...]

Sacramento’s Follies

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

Back in April, we all liked Sacramento. Did we expect 40 wins and a playoff berth? No, but we all like them. We liked Tyreke Evans’ 20-5-5 and his Dwyane Wade like potential, fans liked Omar Casspi and the hustle he provided, and most importantly, fans like the fact DeMarcus Cousins falling to them in the NBA draft.  Somewhere along the way, we all liked respected what the Kings had potentially. Then the word kicked in….potentially.
