NBA Top 50: First look
Last summer, I decided to do my NBA top 50 players. It was a spur of the moment thing, and yes, very flawed ( took me 6 months to realize I left Dirk off the list) but during the season, I’ve been taking my time and actually writing ideas and making up different lists to make this year’s top 50. This offseason, I actually have a system to rate players and the new faces in new places.
The Marvelous Andrew Bynum & His Trade Value
Note: This deal probably won’t happen now with the Lakers winning over Boston and New York this past week. The NBA’s history is full of ideas and theories. The biggest theory: Big men win titles. It’s tough to argue when looking back seeing Mikan, Wilt, Reed, Russell, Kareem, Malone, Hakeem, Shaq and Duncan grabbing titles and leading teams. However, the effect is has today means adding post players today in trades and in free agency means you’re paying a little bit extra for them.
What Going On With LaMarcus Aldridge?
25 years old, 6-11 power forward from Texas. LaMarcus Aldridge was always seen as a player who’s been questioned, even coming out of college. As a 19 year old sophomore, Aldridge was questioned during the draft for being “soft” and it opened questions about his game. By the time the draft came around, Aldridge answered those questions and went 2nd overall in 2006 to Chicago. Chicago, then trades him to Portland for Tyrus Thomas where he joined Brandon Roy and Sergio Rodriguez in that rookie class.

Jerry Sloan’s Career
Let’s go back to 1965. No, were not gonna talk about the gas prices and other things to describe those times. In 1965, the Baltimore Bullets decided to use the 6th overall pick on a player they drafted in 1964. That player? Gerald Eugene Sloan from the university of Evansville.
Is All Star Weekend Fun Anymore? Part 3
We touched all the different competitions during all star weekend. Let’s talk about the actual game. This season, were expecting a great game where guys like LeBron, Wade, Kobe and such play well and eventually take over down the line. The problem is the “down the line” part. Like I said in part 1, I hate the fact it’s a exhibition where players look and try hard near the end. Here’s what I would do. Do MLB style. The winner of the all star game wins homecourt in the NBA Finals. Why? I just think it needs a shakeup. Where [...]
Is All Star Weekend Fun Anymore? Part 2
View Part 1 here The best part of the all star game is the skills challenge. The Skills challenge pits the best point guards in the league in a obstacle course which 9 outta 10 times end in a dunk. I think overall, this is one of the best parts of the all star weekend, mainly because many NBA fans have the question “Who’s the fastest point guard” on their lips constantly, so it’s great to see it. For the NBA, this also has the best upside to be a main piece during all star weekend with Russell Westbrook, Derrick [...]
Is All Star Weekend Fun Anymore? Part 1
2003 All Star Game in Atlanta. That’s when it all died for me. Not only was it the G.O.A.T’s final all star game, but it was at the time where I actually saw people in that game playing hard. Today? It’s more like a REAL exhibition. Every player in the game sets their try meter at a Vince Carter like pace and within the final 3 minutes, you see some guys try to get out that shooting slump they’re in a capture that MVP award at the end. Can you help me with this: When was the last time you [...]

Courtney Lee or Arron Affalo?
Right now, almost everyone can agree that Chicago needs a upgrade at the shooting guard position. Instead of going for the super upgrade like a O.J. Mayo, I rather look toward two rather underrated shooting guards: Denver’s Arron Affalo and Houston’s Courtney Lee. Both would be very good upgrades over Keith Bogans, both are very solid defensive players and here’s my case on both players and their potential fit on the Chicago Bulls
