Believe it or not, there was other free agency news other than Dwight Howard agreeing to sign with the Houston Rockets.

The first, of the not-so-sexy moves or plan B (whichever you prefer), involved 32-year-old Jose Calderon agreeing to a four-year, $28 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

The news broke late Friday afternoon by Calderon’s agent, Mark Bartelstein.

Calderon averaged 11.3 points and 7.1 assists last season with the Toronto Raptors.

Also, in a little more surprising move, the Atlanta Hawks and free agent forward Paul Millsap agreed to a two-year, $19 million deal late Friday night.

This is a bit surprising since just a few days ago Al Jefferson agreed with the Charlotte Bobcats — most believed that the Utah Jazz were going to keep one or the other (Millsap or Jefferson). Instead, they lost both.

Millsap averaged 14.6 and 7.1 rebounds per game last season with the Jazz. Millsap has played all seven years of his career so far in Utah.
