Earlier this week, Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers told the media that he (and the Clippers front office) was strongly considering signing forward Hedo Turkoglu.

Fast-forward a couple days…

Today the Clippers are expected to make it official and sign the free agent forward for the rest of the season.

According to multiple reports, first by Turkish basketball writer Ismail Senol, and later by ESPN’s Marc Stein.

Sure, Turkoglu is a “ big” name and sounds like a good pickup, but the real question is how much he still has left in the tank, or how much he can realistically contribute?

Turk only played in 11 games last season and was suspended 20 games for testing positive for steroids (insert A-Rod joke here).  Not only that, but also, the Orlando Magic paid Turk $6 million to basically not play for the team.

Regardless, he’s still only 34-years-old. If he can somehow give the Clippers 15-20 “OK” minutes per game, I think they’ll be satisfied with that. And in the process, yes, maybe he can hit a three or two.
