The fact that the Cleveland Cavaliers have underwhelmed this season hasn’t helped Dion Waiters at all, his name has been dragged through the NBA trade rumors throughout the year. Recently, the Cavs have been trying to turn the corner, and if you look optimistically, you could say that their four-game winning streak is a good sign.

Perhaps the better sign is the fact that new Cavs management allegedly told Kyrie Irving and Waiters that they were safe from any trades this season, and that they should go out and have fun on the court. Together. That’s exactly what has been happening as of late.

Former Cavs general manager Chris Grant was reportedly shopping Waiters, but since he was fired last week it appears that Waiters is no longer on the trade block.

Expect little-to-no movement on behalf of the Cavs at the NBA trade deadline.

Waiters is averaging 14.3 points per game this season for the Cavaliers. Cleveland is 20-33 heading into the All-Star break and three games out of the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
