In our NBA Mock Draft 5.0, Malik Monk and OG Anunoby take a fall down the draft board

In this latest NBA Mock Draft, I decided to put together one based on what I believe each team should do in next week’s festivities, and not so much on what’s being reported or rumored.

1. Boston Celtics select Markelle Fultz: PG – Washington

This is an easy choice. The Celtics needs to take the best player in the draft. Markelle Fultz has a high floor and high ceiling, and would be the perfect long-term point guard in Boston. He could fit well with Isaiah Thomas for a few years, but is a much safer bet to be their starting point guard for the next 5 to 10 seasons.

2. Los Angeles Lakers select Josh Jackson: SF – Kansas

This is a tough choice. Lonzo Ball would fit well in Los Angeles, but I wouldn’t want to put up with the headache of his insane father LaVar. The best way to avoid the headache is to avoid Lonzo. I have Ball and Josh Jackson similarly ranked, so I’d end up taking Jackson in this situation. If he figures out his jump shot, he could become an elite two-way point forward, which is the most coveted position in the NBA today.
