The Sacramento Kings are poised to be one of the NBA’s teams of the future, but here are five free agent targets to help them go from a team on the rise to a team that has arrived

The Sacramento Kings and their fans have not had much to feel happy about in recent years. The team currently holds the longest playoff drought in NBA history, not making the postseason since the 2005-06 season. Beyond that, it has been since the 2003-04 season since the Kings made the second round.

Fortunately for Sacramento, it looks like their time has finally arrived again.

The team put together a very promising season last year, finishing 39-43 and in 9th place in a stacked Western Conference. Led by a young core of De’Arron Fox, Buddy Hield and Marvin Bagley III, the team has a young nucleus that will certainly be one of the best in the league for years to come. Add the Kings’ solid rotation of bench players and you have a team with a bright future already.

That being said, the thing that should have Kings fans most excited is the team’s estimated $37 million in cap space this upcoming offseason. It allows Sacramento the chance to sign a big time player and leader to join this group of young, talented players.

Here are five free agents the Kings should target to help them reach the next level.
