NBA Lockout

In case you didn’t check out NBA.com, this is real. The 2011-2012 NBA season has be temporarily been cancelled, due to a lockout. The NBA owners, and NBA players association are currently debating over money and other rules and regulations concerning the NBA players. The biggest thing, there’s a split in revenue. The owners want a 57/43 spilt in revenue, while the NBA players want a 54/46 revenue split. Former Portland Trail Blazers front office member Tom Penn said on ESPN’s PTI yesterday that the chances of a loss NBA season is “75 percent”

I’m on the fence with this lockout. With the dozen rumors being thrown out from both sides, it’s tough to know what’s actually being discussed. From non guaranteed contracts, to the hard cap, to a amnesty clause, the NBA has some things I think can be discussed. Opposite of the NFL lockout, I think this lockout needed to happen. Do I think this can be resolved? Of course, but to do that, you need to take the good with the bad. You have to give to get, and neither side seems to understand that as of today.

My best guess, the NBA has 50 games next season. At worst? See you in 2012.
