NBA Draft 2012: Biggest NBA Draft Busts Of The Past 12 Years
By Chris Walder
1) DARKO MILICIC
Selected #2 overall by the Detroit Pistons in 2003
Career Averages: 6.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.3 blocks
Selected over: Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade
All you have to do to know that Darko was a bust was take a look at the group of players he was selected before.
Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade have all gone on to have stellar, all-star careers.
Darko Milicic is…well….Darko Milicic.
I still have yet to figure out how the Detroit Pistons could pass on all of those star players and pick a guy like Darko. Maybe it’s because they already had a balanced roster and didn’t need a player like Carmelo or Bosh to round out their roster….yep, that’s all I got.
Milicic has actually given his current team the Timberwolves some steady, productive minutes at the 5 spot. Still, it hasn’t been enough to shake off his label as one of, if not the biggest draft bust in NBA history.
