During Sunday night’s game between the Los Angeles Clippers and Detroit Pistons, Clippers big man DeAndre Jordan threw down what could arguably be described as the greatest, most powerful slam dunk we’ve seen in the NBA this season.
The play in question took place with 4:32 seconds remaining in the second quarter, as Los Angeles owned a 55-36 lead over Detroit.
Clippers point guard Chris Paul threw up a lob to Jordan, who caught the ball and slammed it down with no regard for human life, right over the defenseless body of Pistons second-year guard Brandon Knight.
What made the dunk even more impressive was the fact that DeAndre threw it down with his weaker hand. He’s primarily a left-handed player, yet the tenacity and ferocity he showcased with his right hand would have made you think otherwise.
For those who haven’t seen it, here it is in all of its glory……
Social media juggernaut Twitter blew up after this DeAndre Jordan slam, and rightfully so. No one was able to contain their excitement and enthusiasm for what they had just witnessed.
Even Miami Heat All-Star and reigning MVP LeBron James believes it to be the Dunk of the Year.
The Jam became so popular, that the hashtag #RIPBrandonKnight even started trending worldwide.
Here is a look at some more popular tweets concerning DeAndre Jordan and the dunk heard around the world.
