According To Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, Kevin Garnett “will agree to trade to Brooklyn and Celtics are sending KG and Paul Pierce to the Nets.” Wojnarowski also reports the Nets “have agreed to fully guarantee the $12 million owed Garnett in the 2014-’15 season.” Garnett could have bought out for $6 million.
The trade will also include another future Hall-0f-Famer swingman Paul Pierce and veteran guard Jason Terry.
The Celtics will reportedly acquire three first round picks, power forward Kris Humphries, who has an expiring contract, Gerald Wallace, Tornike Shengelia, Reggie Evans and Keith Bogans, who will have to be dealt in a sign and trade.
Paul Pierce will have to have his option worth $15.3 million picked up by week’s end for the deal to go down. ESPN’s Marc Stein reports “because Pierce is making nearly $17 million this season, Brooklyn needs the deal to wait until after the start of free agency and the lifting of the moratorium on July 10, since the $15.3 million figure is used in the trade.”
