So, yesterday Dwight Howard was rumored to be done with the Los Angeles Lakers. Today it is being reported that Dirk Nowitzki, of the Dallas Mavericks, has “reached out” to the free agent center.
"I reached out to him and told him we’d love to have him. It’s not like we call each other every day. I didn’t write him a letter. We just had a little phone contact. That’s about it."
That’s what the 11-time All-Star said, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard’s initial report, he states that Houston and Dallas are the favorites heading into Dwight’s free agency.
Apart from Dirk though, I’m not entirely sure what the Mavs have that will be so enticing to Dwight. On the other hand, Houston has the young pieces. They have the young, up-and-coming stars that would attract a free agent like Dwight.
After all, Houston is the team that made the playoffs this past season, not Dallas.
It will be another interesting summer for Dwight, to say the least. I’m also sure that the Lakers aren’t just going to let Dwight walk without a fight.
Again, interesting. Hopefully, it doesn’t turn into another DWIGHTMARE.
