The Los Angeles Clippers will have to survive for the next two weeks without their best perimeter defender.

On Thursday night, the Clippers announced that Matt Barnes would be shut down for the foreseeable future to undergo surgery to repair a retinal tear in his left eye. That two weeks is the “minimum” for his return however, it could be longer.

Reportedly, the injured was suffered Monday night when Zack Randolph unintentionally poked him in the eye.

In the absence of Barnes, it is expected that Jared Dudley and Reggie Bullock will receive the bulk of his minutes.

Barnes has been averaging 5.9 points per game in essentially 20 minutes per game. However, the Clippers will miss him most for his defense.
