It’s rare when you see Marc Gasol miss time due to injury. How rare? Well, Gasol has only missed five games due to injury since the 2010-11 season.
"[ESPN]“They try to give me a week — three, four, six,” Gasol said when asked of the recovery time Monday night. “I don’t care what number they say, I told them as soon as I can put my foot down on the floor and I can walk, I’m going to rush it and speed the process.”"
ESPN says that Gasol will be on crutches for three to four weeks before he can even begin his recovery.
Gasol says that as soon as he heard that surgery was not needed, he wanted to just tape it up and get back on the court. The doctors then informed him that it simply wasn’t that easy.
Still, at this point, Gasol is still “out indefinitely” with a grade 2 MCL sprain. However, the fear is that he could be out up to 10-12 weeks.
I would assume that as soon as he begins the rehab process, in about three to four weeks, we’ll get a greater indication on how long this injury will keep him off the court.
Until then, we’ll continue to cross our fingers.
