The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Tuesday that Nikola Pekovic will miss at least 7-10 days with ankle bursitis, and will be re-evaluation after that.
At 22-22, and more importantly three games out of eighth spot in the Western Conference, Minnesota can’t be happy with the news — even though it doesn’t sound serious at all. Pekovic is probably the only “true” center on the roster, and will be greatly missed on the frontline. Pekovic had been averaging 18 points and nine rebounds before the injury.
Behind him, it’s likely that Rick Adelman will be forced to start rookie Gorgui Dieng, or perhaps even start Kevin Love at center and play “small ball”.
