Just when we all thought that the NBA Trade Deadline was a complete dud, Sam Hinkie and the Philadelphia 76ers sneak in one last deal to save the day.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Indiana Pacers have traded Danny Granger to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Lavoy Allen and Evan Turner.
Both Turner and Granger had been on the trade block for some time, but no other teams were really biting. The Pacers all along were looking to trade Granger, since last summer, but I guess they were waiting for the right time. Indiana adds Turner as an extra wing scorer in anticipation for an epic Heat vs Pacers Eastern Conference Finals. Should be fun.
Turner was averaging 17.4 points per game on the Sixers this season.
On the flip side, the Sixers add Turner as they continue to “tank”. Granger will become a free agent after this season and it’s expected for him to walk. Makes sense for the Sixers to take on the expiring deal.
Turner has an $8-plus million qualifying offer for next season.
