Rumor: Indiana forward Noah Vonleh could slide into the top-three of the draft.

The top-three of the draft has to be Jabari Parker, Andrew Wiggins, and Joel Embiid, right? Maybe not.

Marc J. Spears of Yahoo is reporting that the Sixers will work out Noah Vonleh this week. While there has been plenty of buzz detailing the Sixers’ love for Wiggins, this is one of the first headlines we have seen about them maybe being interested in someone else.

There are two ways to look at this. Maybe Sixers management feels like they will not get Wiggins as well as not having interest in one of Parker or Embiid, or both? It could certainly be possible that they like Vonleh over the latter two. They need a PF badly to play next to center Nerlens Noel. However, with this being a power forward heavy draft, it is believed that the Sixers could get one at pick number ten, their other first round pick.

  • Speaking of that pick, it is possible that the Sixers could look to move up to get Vonleh and still draft one of this draft’s big three. They have the extra picks second round picks and future first round picks to do that as well as using forward Thaddeus Young as a trade chip. An offer including any of these pieces with the 10th overall pick could convince a team like the Magic, who pick at number four, to pull the trigger.

While trading up for Vonleh is a possibility, it just does not seem all that realistic that he could go before one of Embiid, Wiggins, or Parker.
