NBA Rumors
With the NBA free agency period hours away, Mike Bresnahan of The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Pau Gasol, who officially becomes an unrestricted free agent at midnight, already has meetings setup with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Chicago Bulls and the Golden State Warriors.
Gasol is also rumored to at least consider the New York Knicks, who are interested in the veteran forward, and his incumbent Los Angeles Lakers.
"Gasol has said numerous times that his main priority is playing for a title-contending team. He will meet with Oklahoma City, Chicago and Golden State and might also sit down with the Lakers, the team that has employed him since acquiring him from Memphis in February 2008."
Gasol’s priority heading into free agency will be setting himself up for success to end his career. He wants to play for a contender and a contender would more than welcome a talent such as Gasol. I’m sure there are more than a handful of contending teams that would embrace the opportunity to sign the veteran.
The 34-year-old power forward will be one of the most underrated free agent signings this offseason, wherever he lands. He has the ability to change a team from contender status to favorites.
