NBA Free Agency: Top 5 Underrated Free Agents

5 of 6

Jodie Meeks

This might be a little outside the box because Meeks probably is not one of the best hundred free agents available. Meeks is, however, one of the best shooters available in free agency. I guarantee no one is talking about where Jodie Meeks will end up because they don’t think it’s important or that he could actually contribute on a good team. And, part of that is probably true.

In the right fit, Meeks could be a really solid player in the NBA. He just needs people around him to get him open looks. Imagine if Meeks signed with the Spurs. Austin Daye scored 22 points in a game this season for the Spurs. If you are thinking, ‘Who is that?’ That is my point exactly. You don’t need all the best players in the NBA, but when you have a few like Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili, it’s easy to fill in the roster around them with guys like Meeks.

With the advanced metrics support, three-pointers are becoming an increasing part of the game today. Guys like Meeks, who do little but shoot threes, have a market now. If Meeks ends up with a team like San Antonio, Phoenix, or even Houston, he would be a really good signing for all those teams.
